I’m excited to finally share this news with you: on October 26 — the one year anniversary of the subversive confirmation of Justice Amy Coney Barrett — Take Bake the Court, along with our friends at the People’s Parity Project, are hosting a Rally “4” Our Future on the steps of the Supreme Court featuring Senator Ed Markey, Senator Tina Smith, Congressman Mondaire Jones, progressive activist Ady Barkan, and other leading voices for Supreme Court reform — emceed by Jess McIntosh!
Since Barrett’s confirmation, we’ve watched the stolen conservative majority actively engage in dismantling our democracy — and it’s time that Congress takes action. The Judiciary Act of 2021 would add 4 (see what we did there?) seats to the Court and restore balance to our judiciary.
This past year has just been a preview of what this extremist Court is capable of. That’s why we need to take this opportunity and demand Congress take urgent, necessary action to pass the Judiciary Act and expand the Court. Will you help us make the Rally 4 Our Future so loud that every single representative in Congress hears us?

When Take Back the Court was founded, Court expansion seemed like a pipe dream. But just a few years later, this movement has grown exponentially — and continues to pick up steam every day:
- The Judiciary Act has the support of more than 30 members of Congress, with Senator Tina Smith announcing her co-sponsorship of the bill just this week.
- Nearly 90 advocacy organizations, including the Sunrise Movement, United We Dream, Move On, and many more, support Court expansion.
- And Take Back the Court is hard at work spreading the word about the necessity of restoring balance to the Court through events like our upcoming panel discussion with Congressman Mondaire Jones at NetRoots Nation! (more details to come)
More and more people are recognizing the moment we’re in: we cannot afford to continue playing a wait-and-see game with an illegitimate and unaccountable Court that continues to stack the deck in favor of GOP donors and corporations–and against working people.
In the last year alone, conservatives on the Court have further gutted what was left of the Voting Rights Act, permitted discrimination against LGBTQ families, cracked down on union organizing, resurrected cruel, xenophobic Trump-era immigration policy, invited mass evictions during a pandemic, and effectively erased Roe v. Wade for 1 in 10 reproductive-age women.
