Dear John,

Lawmakers continue to slog toward a final reconciliation bill in fits and starts. One of the main sticking points is whether a small group of holdout politicians will stand up to pressure by Big Pharma and allow Medicare to negotiate directly with drug companies for lower prescription drug prices, which a majority of Americans want.

So far, victory is anything but certain. That’s why the National Committee needs your immediate help to ramp up maximum constituent pressure on several key lawmakers in Congress whose votes are essential in passing significant drug pricing reform legislation. If we succeed in passing Medicare drug price negotiation then Congress will be able to use the more than $450 billion in estimated savings over ten years to help pay for expanding Medicare to include coverage for dental, hearing and vision care.

This is another one of those moments in history when reformers put forward commonsense proposals (with the support of the majority of the American people) — and wealthy, powerful interests block their efforts. Big Pharma has intensified its lobbying efforts to defeat drug pricing reform — and especially the ability of Medicare to negotiate prices.

As we continue to fight for meaningful drug pricing reform, it can be an uphill battle against Big Pharma’s billions. Please help the National Committee remind our elected officials who they really work for — and urge them to stand with the public and not Big Pharma by chipping in one urgent gift today!

Sincerely,

Max Richtman
