John,

Trump is continuing his fossil-fuel loving ways: yesterday, he gave a speech in Pittsburgh at a conference of oil and gas companies and their lobbyists.

Trump and his allies in the fracking industry want to build a massive complex in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia that would turn fracked gas into plastics, all at the expense of the local communities and the global climate. And they want to use our tax dollars to do it.

Food & Water Action and supporters like you have been fighting to stop the Appalachia Storage and Trading Hub (a key piece of infrastructure in the regional petrochemical buildout) for months, and so far, no federal financial support has been given to the project. But fossil fuel industry allies are trying to attach funding for the project to important bills in Congress.

We can stop this disastrous project, but we have to act now. Send a message to your member of Congress and tell them to reject Trump’s fracking handout!

The Appalachia Storage and Trading Hub is a key part of the petrochemical buildout, and Trump and the industry are pulling out all the stops. A few senators on both sides of the aisle want the federal government to provide financial support for the project, and they’re planning to add this to any bill that is likely to pass. The age of fossil fuels is over, but the fossil fuel industry and its allies are trying to hang on and sneak projects through Congress however they can.

But we won’t let them. Thanks to pressure from Food & Water Action supporters and allies, we passed an amendment in the House that would stop the federal government from using a clean energy loan program for the gas storage hub or any other fossil fuel projects.

Now we need to ramp up the pressure again. Your representative will vote on a wide range of spending bills — from transportation to national defense. They need to hear from constituents like you who will take a stand against Trump’s fracking handout. Tell your member of Congress to stop any financial support for the Appalachia gas storage hub and other fossil fuel projects.

Many of these bills could come up for a vote at any time. We need to stay vigilant and make sure your members of Congress know that we won’t support dangerous fracking projects like the Appalachia Storage and Trading Hub. Because it's not just local communities that will be facing a fracking endgame, this storage hub would set back efforts toward fighting the worst effects of climate change too.

Send a message to your member of Congress today and make sure they know to oppose all financial support for fracking projects.
