Groundwork Project started with a mission: to listen and support organizers in states that Democrats and progressives say are a "lost cause." We started with this mission because we have seen grassroots, community-led movements continue to fight in these "lost cause" states -- and oftentimes, they’re winning.
Most importantly, they are our best line of defense against regressive GOP state policies sweeping the country. Since the 2020 election, state legislatures have introduced almost 400 voter suppression bills across the country, over 100 anti-trans bills, and 60+ anti-abortion bills. It’s local organizers in impacted states like Alabama, Mississippi, and West Virginia that are leading the fight to protect our constitutional rights and democracy itself. That’s why Groundwork is committed to uplifting their work year-round and supporting efforts to build strong progressive infrastructure, far outside traditional battleground states.
Want to support organizers fighting voter suppression and defending civil rights across the country? Contribute to the Groundwork Project before our critical end of quarter deadline tonight.
The faces you see and the voices you hear on our community page are the exact community organizers that you are empowering Groundwork to support when you contribute.
