Why #MeToo Is About #GirlsToo

We know sexual harassment and violence causes physical, mental, social, and academic harm to girls. The effects follow them well into adulthood. It is not just “boys being boys” or “locker room talk.” It is not “just a part of growing up.” It is a public health issue that demands our attention. #MeToo brought the issue mainstream. Girls Inc. launched #GirlsToo to address the root cause.

18 Girls Share Their Stories With Us

To better understand why #GirlsToo matters, we asked girls in our community to share stories of a time when they stood up, supported a friend, or called out problematic language or behavior. Each girl comes from a different background and faces her own unique circumstances. In her own words, each girl shares her personal point of view and answers the question of why #GirlsToo matters.
