BREAKING: California just stood up to Trump and BANNED chlorpyrifos, a toxic pesticide. Urge Congress to follow California's example and protect our families »
Friend — Trump took us a major step backward in the fight to protect our families from dangerous chemicals.
Recently, EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler announced he would not ban the dangerous pesticide chlorpyrifos — putting farmworkers in danger of inhaling this pesticide and families in danger when they buy produce at grocery stores. California's Governor Newsom just defied Wheeler's rollback to side with environmental and farmworker justice advocates and ban these toxic pesticides.
Congress has the power to permanently ban this dangerous chemical — but that will only happen if enough of us speak out.
Will you join us and urge your members of Congress to put our communities over the profits of big chemical companies?
Demand that Congress protect our children and communities and ban toxic chlorpyrifos for good! 30,000 signatures needed »
Across the nation, 40,000 farms spray crops regularly with dangerous chlorpyrifos — everything from apples to almonds to strawberries.
And we are exposed from residue on food, contaminated drinking water, and drift from farms. This makes the risk of poisoning — especially for communities of color and migrant communities that disproportionately work on or live near these farms — just too high.
The science is overwhelming — even low exposure to chlorpyrifos can have devastating health impacts, including increased risk of cancers and developmental disabilities in children. And farmworkers are on the frontlines as they inhale and work with this chemical daily.
But Dow Chemical and other corporate giants are pushing the EPA to go against the facts and public health and keep this pesticide on the market, just to boost their bottom line. That's where you come in. When the executive branch fails us, we need Congress to step in. To get Congress to protect our health and environment, we need you to act in solidarity with farmworkers and environmental justice advocates to be louder than big chemical corporations.
We need you to join the fight — tell Congress to do what Trump's EPA won't and protect our families from dangerous pesticides »
We all deserve to be able to safely work, eat fresh fruits and vegetables, and drink water without fear of toxic pesticide contamination. That's why we must join together now to flood Congressional inboxes and demand that they ban toxic chlorpyrifos.
Thank you for taking action for our families,
