Hey John.

With the end of quarter deadline at midnight tonight, you’re probably getting a deluge of emails asking for your hard-earned dollars (I know I am!). So, I wanted to explain real quick why contributions from grassroots supporters like you are so important.

Your donations help in a multitude of ways, but it really comes down to three main things:

• Run outreach programs all over the 15th District. Right now, that means running ads to reach voters wherever they’re online, as well as laying groundwork for getting out into the community. Down the road, we’ll shift those resources into persuasion and Get Out the Vote efforts to help voters register and cast their ballot while making the case for why we need a fresh voice in Congress (It’s me! Just imagine my voice fighting for you and your families, sweet dulcet tones and all).
   
• Close the gap between our campaign and Scott Franklin’s dark money machine. We simply don’t have the deep-pocketed corporate backing that Franklin’s campaign does (and I’m proud of that!). By relying on $5, $10, or $50 at a time from grassroots supporters, we can close that gap and put ourselves in a position to go toe-to-toe against our corporate-backed opponent. It makes us the underdog here, but what’s the fun in being the favorite?
   
• Demonstrate support from a wide-ranging, diverse foundation of supporters. People invest in causes they believe in. The power of grassroots donations is that they allow people from every kind of background you can imagine to show that they care, and that they believe in a better way forward for this district, for Florida, and for our country. That’s why we’ve set this goal of 500 grassroots donations, instead of a total amount raised: Even if you give just a dollar, you’re proving that this campaign has a broad foundation of supporters that will fuel us all the way to the finish line next November.
