Standing up to Donald Trump and the growing authoritarian streak in the Republican party has made me a target for attacks, and it’s critical we don’t fall short of our goal.

Out-of-state funders are powering my opponents and will stop at nothing to unseat me. In response, I’m continuing to do what I’ve always done: push for positive change. That’s why I’m particularly proud that the Judiciary Committee is taking the final step this week on my legislation to decriminalize marijuana, the MORE Act, because it’s beyond time we tackle this criminal justice issue.

My opponents on both sides know that I’ll always stand up for progressive values, even when it’s hard. That’s why, as wealthy lobbyists work to take tax increases on the wealthy out of the Build Back Better Plan, I’ve remained firm in ensuring they stay in.
