Every three months, candidates for federal office must file a report with the Federal Election Commission detailing how much they have raised and how many people have chipped in. Shortly after, that report goes public.

It’s all part of an effort to keep politicians honest about how their campaigns are funded — and I’m really proud about what our report says about this team.

Our team is powered by folks like you who chip in what you can, when you can — not corporate PACs or shady special interests. In fact, our average donation online this year is just $12.86.

But to be honest, this report makes me a little nervous too. You see, I’m still the new guy around here, so when our report goes public, everyone — including Mitch McConnell — will comb through it looking for signs of weakness.

With a Senate seat up for grabs here in Colorado, I don’t want to give McConnell a reason to think our momentum last year was just a fluke and that our state is ripe for the taking.
