The global climate strikes have put new wind in the sails of campaigns to win a Green New Deal in states and cities across the country.
In Virginia, the Green New Deal is about to be on the ballot. Last month, the Virginia Democratic Party officially voted to back Virginia’s Green New Deal resolution--thanks to the work of a coalition of racial justice organizations, environmental groups, unions and young people.1
If Virginia Democrats win majority control in their state elections on Nov 5th, they can start passing laws to actually make Virginia’s Green New Deal a reality. The current balance of Virginia’s state legislature is so tight that Democrats only need a few more votes to take control.
So, we’re giving our support to 20 Virginia Democratic candidates with tight races. We have just two weeks to help them win so they can make Green New Deal history.
