Hello John,

Monday’s vote to place a hotel tax measure on the March primary ballot wasn’t about the measure itself.

When the voters passed Measure L, they were clear:

Important elections should be held in November
when most people participate, not the low-turnout primary.

Once the Council goes down the path of making political justifications for placing a measure on the March ballot, we begin playing political games and undermining democracy.

WATCH:
In 2016, Todd Gloria supported Measures L. But in 2019, he flip-flopped under political pressure.

My opponent will play politics. I will keep my word.

To be clear, I actually support a hotel tax to help fund the convention center expansion, homeless programs, and infrastructure projects.

But my job as a councilmember is to respect the will of the voters when they’ve spoken.

These are important issues. And that’s exactly why the measure should be decided in November.

It’s hard for politicians to uphold their campaign promises when the political game gets in the way.

But I’m not in this to build a political career, so I’m not playing that game.

That’s why I need you right now.

Will you chip-in $25 or more to help me end the political games?

Let’s get to work!
