Dear John,

Network of enlightened Women, NeW, chapters have been off to a great start to the school year this fall with six events this week. On Monday, NeW at Baylor University hosted a creative pumpkin painting and presidential debate watch party. While decorating their pumpkins, the women watched the previous Democratic debate and talked about the issues the candidates discussed.

It is not often that NeW chapters receive positive press for the different perspective and intellectual diversity they bring to campus, but with this pumpkin and debate-watching event, NeW at Baylor drew attention from their peers. The student paper, the Baylor Lariate, even featured them on the front page of their paper.

In the article, Jamie LeVie, President of NeW at Baylor, said,
Chapter Vice President, Jordan Davidson, shared with the publication, “We have quite a few members who don’t agree with a lot of conservative ideals, but that’s why we like it so much. We have such a variety of beliefs, and you really can’t have a conversation unless you have people with a variety of backgrounds and ideals. We love being able to open up the conversation and be able to politely and civilly discuss different issues, and more importantly find solutions that we can all agree on.”
Through social events and public policy discussions, NeW chapters like Baylor are adding an important viewpoint to the conversations occurring on college campuses. Read what other impactful events NeW chapters have hosted this semester.

Best wishes,
