Millions of people ready for bold, transformative change helped elect Democratic majorities to Congress and the White House. We promised we’d deliver on that change, and we have the opportunity to fulfill that promise right now.
Democrats have brought forward the Build Back Better agenda, which has two parts. One is an infrastructure bill to repair our crumbling roads, bridges, drinking water, and more. The other is a reconciliation package that will provide a pathway to citizenship for many immigrants and make once-in-a-generation investments in child care, healthcare, housing, education, and climate action and green jobs.
We need both bills to put our country on a strong path to economic recovery and move our country forward. But, to the delight of the corporate lobbyists that are pouring millions of dollars into trying to block the reconciliation bill, some conservative Democrats want to press pause on it and only pass the infrastructure legislation.
This would be a disservice to our country. It would let down the women that were pushed out of the workforce because they couldn’t afford child care, the people who can’t afford astronomical prescription drug prices, and most importantly, our children and future generations who will be left with an unlivable planet without climate action.
That’s why I’ve vowed to put my vote on the line if it means sending the full Build Back Better agenda to President Biden’s desk. My progressive colleagues and I have power and leverage in the House, and we will use it to make sure no one is left behind.
But I’m counting on your grassroots support to help keep up this work — especially as some of my colleagues have no issue accepting donations from the corporate PACs that want to block our progress. Will you chip in $5, $10, or more ahead of tomorrow’s end-of-quarter deadline to fuel our fight for progress?
