Property Tax Relief

I have been fighting against skyrocketing property taxes long before being elected to office. I have continued this fight during my tenure as a Texas State Senator and now as Lt. Governor.

Last week, we made history in the Texas Senate by passing additional property tax relief. Senate Bill 1 guarantees $2 billion in property tax relief, and that amount could rise to a total of $4 billion for the current biennium if our surplus revenues grow.

This bill follows the clear and simple principle that as the state receives excess funds, some of it will be returned to the taxpayers. This signifies a quantum shift in the way the state thinks about spending our surplus dollars.

Texas homeowners must receive tax relief before we commit to any new spending.

Texans are demanding property tax relief. The Texas Senate heard their call, and we passed this critical legislation. I am proud we took this step forward in providing relief for Texas homeowners.

I will never stop fighting for taxpayers to keep more of their own money, and I am committed to providing more tax relief to all Texans. May I count on your support of $5-10-25 or more today to continue fighting for fiscal responsibility and lower taxes?
