That’s how many contributions we need to reach before midnight tomorrow when we’ll close our books and submit our fundraising numbers to the public.
How did we get that number? Based on our average gift for the year ($16.89) and how much we’ve raised so far, we need 9,702 more contributions this quarter to hit our target of $1.7 million.
9,702 is an important number to us because each donation – no matter the amount – shows that our values from Medicare for All to the Green New Deal have strong support in Pennsylvania and across the country.
This goal is particularly important. After midnight, our numbers will be submitted to the FEC where they’ll be available to the public and examined by pundits and our opponents to determine the strength of our movement.
Alexandria is one of the most heavily targeted members of Congress. Her opponent raised over $10 million last election in what was the second-most expensive congressional race that year. We know that next year will be no different, so it’s important that we raise early resources and demonstrate the strength of our campaign now.
Reaching 9,702 contributions and submitting a strong FEC report would demonstrate how much grassroots support Alexandria has beside her.
