John,
Tomorrow marks a major end-of-quarter deadline, so it’s probably no surprise that I’m going to ask you to chip in whatever you can to help meet our goal. But first, I owe you an explanation on why donating to our campaign at this crucial moment in our country’s history matters so much.
Access to safe, legal abortion has never been more at risk since the litigation of Roe v. Wade nearly five decades ago. The Supreme Court’s decision not to block a six-week abortion ban from going to effect in Texas, mere months before it is set to hear Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban, was a hair-raising preview for what could come: the Supreme Court could potentially overturn Roe v. Wade altogether and open the floodgates to even more restrictive laws across the county. As a doctor who has sat with patients making decisions about their pregnancies, I can say with absolute certainty that the impact of that outcome would be catastrophic.
From my years on the labor and delivery floor, I know firsthand the risks of pregnancy and the danger that will result from limiting the range of health care options to pregnant individuals. These extreme restrictions on abortion and reproductive care don’t consider the lives and livelihoods of women and birthing people or their families. It’s devastating to see states attempt to, and succeed at, undermining personal decisions and the sacred doctor-patient relationship.
No matter what, I will fight every step of the way to protect an individual's right to terminate a pregnancy or carry their child to term. That is reproductive justice at its core. But I need your help to take this crucial fight to the U.S. Senate. That’s why I’m asking:
Will you chip in any amount toward our end-of-quarter goal before midnight tomorrow? There couldn’t be a more important time to send the first woman physician to the U.S. Senate.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
I’ll do everything I can to get laws on the books to protect safe, legal access to abortion and the ability of health care providers to provide them. Thanks for supporting me in this fight.
With gratitude,
Val
