Your inbox is probably flooded with emails about FEC quarterly deadlines and end-of-quarter goals. You’ve probably even gotten a few from us. So I wanted to quickly explain why these quarterly goals are so important.

Every quarter, political campaigns and organizations are required to report details about their finances to the Federal Election Commission — how much money we’ve raised, from how many donors, etc. And then these numbers are made public, and the entire world can see them.

Once these numbers are published, our opponents can (and will!) use these numbers to make assumptions about the strength of our movement, and will affect the way they allocate resources. That’s why it’s hard to overstate how critical it is that we have strong fundraising numbers to turn over to the FEC at the end of this quarter.
