Hi John, I’m May Boeve, 350’s Executive Director.
Today marks ten years of 350, and I can hardly believe it. We started this
work because we wanted to help build a powerful movement that could
respond to the urgency of the climate crisis. And that’s exactly what
we’ve done.
[ [link removed] ]To keep this movement strong, bold and independent, we need those of us
who can to step up and help fund our powerful campaigns. Can you make a
donation right now, and become a supporter of 350.org?
350 exists to build a global movement around the climate crisis and put an
end to the era of fossil fuels once and for all. We are in every timezone
across the world, organizing, mobilizing, training, and building people
power for a more just and equitable world.
Just a few weeks ago, we helped bring more than 7.6 MILLION PEOPLE on the
streets to demand bold climate action, in what was the biggest climate
mobilization in history. The reality is, we’re building a movement that
will have to keep fighting this fight for decades to come. It’s the
support of community members like you that will make this possible.
[ [link removed] ]John, can you make a gift right now, to keep the momentum of
the Global Climate Strikes strong for years to come?
10 years ago, 350 was named for “350ppm” - the safe level of carbon in our
atmosphere. We’ve passed this threshold years ago. Right now, across the
world, millions of us are already facing the impacts of the climate
crisis. But it’s not too late to stop the worst of it.
Scientists have been very clear that we can still transform our energy
system and keep global warming below 1.5 degrees - but it’s going to take
a huge movement to make that happen.
350 was built by regular people like you and me on the premise that all
actions of any kind, all major political decisions, start with a person —
they start with someone who gets passionate about an issue and decides to
do something about it. That kind of passion is what drives us in offering
training and organizing support to grassroots activists. That’s what lets
us confront the huge logistical challenge of massive global mobilizations
like last month’s Global Climate Strike, and allows us to aid activists in
hyper-local fights putting a stop to new fossil fuel projects.
In Europe, that passion and dedication of our staff and community members
lets us run - and win - powerful campaigns to get public authorities,
cities, colleges and museums to break their ties with the fossil fuel
industry. Together, we’re confronting the coal, oil and gas corporations,
and their financial backers. We go after the money. We’re on the internet
and on the streets.
[ [link removed] ]Will you help celebrate 10 years of 350 by chipping in to help power
our campaigns?
With great thanks,
May Boeve, for the entire 350.org team
