Colder weather means it?s harder to meet outdoors ? but we must try
Hands face space graphic
Covid-19 is still in Nottingham: we are seeing a rise in cases, we have people in hospital and, sadly, people are still dying as a result of the virus. It is important that we recognise that the pandemic is far from over. Despite the relaxation of rules nationally, in Nottingham we are still asking people to wear face masks, get vaccinated and test regularly.
Fresh air and ventilation also help ? and while this will become increasingly harder now that the colder autumn weather is here, we should all try to take this simple step to stay safe. If you can, meet outdoors with people who are not in your household. If you must meet indoors, open a window and keep the space well ventilated. You should also wear a mask when in busy indoor spaces where there is little or no natural ventilation, such as shops, pubs, restaurants, public transport and events such as concerts. I know we all want this to be over, but if we continue to take action now we can help to reduce the spread of the virus and hopefully avoid another lockdown later.

Long-term scooter hire for key workers
Nottingham escooters
Nottingham?s e-scooter providers Wind Mobility have teamed up with the City Council to offer a long-term hire scheme for key workers working within Nottingham. For just ?30 a month, they can receive their own e-scooter to use around the clock - they're great for maintaining social distancing while travelling.
E-scooters offer the potential for convenient, clean and affordable travel, reduce reliance on car trips and lower harmful emissions. Full training will be provided during handover and free maintenance checks can be booked to ensure the e-scooter remains in good condition.
We?re incredibly supportive and appreciative of our key workers who have helped carry us through the pandemic and hope that people find the scooter a cheaper and more convenient way to travel around the city. Find out more [ [link removed] ]

Heritage schemes bring new life and new jobs to parts of Nottingham
Carrington Street
Nottingham City Council has been working with local building owners and tenants to improve the condition of historic buildings. This has helped small independent local businesses to flourish, despite the Covid pandemic, and is beginning to transform the streets back into the impressive areas they once were.
Funding from Historic England and the National Lottery Heritage Fund has been secured to provide grants to eligible building owners towards the cost of repairs and other heritage works, such as restoring architecture and traditional shop fronts. Works in the Old Market Square and Lace Market Conservation area are revitalising the city centre and helping to boost the city?s economy, while improvements at Carrington Street have completely transformed the area from Nottingham Station to Broad Marsh, restoring it as an impressive gateway into the city.
Under the two schemes, 18 shop fronts have either been completed or are on site, with a further 12 shops due to be completed by the end of the programme. So far, the conservation area schemes have helped the council to engage with 80 small and medium-sized enterprises, create 470 jobs and brought more than 4,400m2 of commercial space back into use. You?re Nott Alone
Every mind matters logo
We know that the pandemic has taken a toll on people?s mental health and wellbeing ? with young people particularly affected by the impacts it has had on their studies and ability to meet friends and socialise, for example. The launch of a new mental health resource for young people in Nottinghamshire and those who care for them is therefore very timely. Nott Alone [ [link removed] ] is a new website from Nottingham City Council, Nottinghamshire County Council and the NHS where you can find trusted information, advice and services.
If you?re worried about the mental health of someone under 25, you or they can now find helpful advice, guidance and contacts for further support on a range of different topics at the Nott Alone [ [link removed] ] website.
