Hey friend, it’s Wendy Davis, and I want to tell you why I am so proud to serve on the advisory board of Ground Game Texas, and why this work has never been more important.
Many people first learned my name when I led a 13-hour filibuster against an anti-abortion bill in the Texas state legislature. We won the battle that day, thanks to the thousands of people who showed up to add their voices to the fight. And we thought we’d ultimately won the war when the Supreme Court overturned the law three years later.
And, yet, here we are again — fighting a law that places a bounty on the heads of Texans who provide abortion care or who assist someone in receiving it. That’s why organizing our communities and turning out the vote has never been more important.
The fact that we’ve been fighting for reproductive justice in Texas for decades is why we NEED Ground Game Texas — because it’s not just the abortion ban. It’s voter suppression. It’s climate inaction. It’s the failure to fund our schools, fix our broken power grid, or protect workers who are paid below a living wage.
Governor Abbott and the Texas GOP are operating on a long-term political strategy to restrict our rights — and Ground Game Texas is an incredibly important part of pushing back by investing in a long-term political strategy to fight back through local-level, issue-focused organizing that will ultimately add hundreds of thousands of progressive voters to the electorate.
I served on a city council for 9 years. And I understand how important it is to engage voters at the local level around issues of importance to them. That’s why I immediately said yes when my friends Julie Oliver and Mike Siegel asked me to serve on the Ground Game Texas advisory board — because I’m eager to do my part to support this powerful one-of-a-kind organizing model, which will play a pivotal part in permanently transforming voter engagement and turnout in Texas. For that same reason, friend, I’m asking you now:
Will you do your part by making a contribution today to help Ground Game Texas raise $15,000 in online donations before our next end-of-quarter deadline? Every single dollar you give will go toward organizing and mobilizing Texas voters! [[link removed]]

Reaching this end-of-quarter goal before Ground Game Texas’ fundraising is publicly reported by the FEC is vital, not only to sustain their work, but to show folks across Texas that they’ve got the strength and commitment to see it through.
In solidarity for a more progressive Texas,
Wendy Davis
