Here at Maine Conservation Voters and Maine Conservation Alliance, we are pulling out all the stops to bring you a lively night of entertainment and powerful speakers at this year’s virtual Evening for the Environment on Friday, October 22, from 7-8 PM.
Will you join us? This incredible event is free — but donations are very much welcome!
Here's what we have in store for you:
The ever-popular Bill McKibben will be featured at the event as well as Governor Janet Mills and Secretary of State Shenna Bellows.
Portland-based Oshima Brothers will join MCV Executive Director Maureen Drouin and MCV Board President Adam Lee in the studio for live-stream musical performances throughout the evening.
The evening will feature an interview with climate change artist Jill Pelto whose art has been featured on the cover of TIME magazine.
You’ll hear from mother-daughter powerhouses, Congresswoman Chellie Pingree and Hannah Pingree, as they talk about what inspires them to work for climate action.
We will all take a visit to State Sen. Stacy Brenner’s Broadturn Farm where we’ll hear from her and fellow legislators Sen. Cathy Breen and Sen. Anne Carney about priority environmental bills that they championed this past session.
There’s more: Maine poet Gary Lawless will share a reading with us. Sarah Chieffo, of the League of Conservation Voters, will talk about the most up-to-date federal climate action.
Five of our allies: State Senator Craig Hickman, former MCV intern Abby Despres, Penobscot Nation Ambassador Maulian Dana, board member Lucas St. Clair, and MCV/MCA member Caroline Pryor will talk about our work.
