John --
Despite our hard-fought progress, most energy in Massachusetts still comes from fossil fuels that disproportionately hurt low income communities and people of color - polluting our air and water, harming our health, and further disrupting our climate. We need to ensure that Massachusetts is powered by 100% renewable energy.
On Tuesday we have a chance to act. The joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities, and Energy just announced a hearing on several key pieces of environmental legislation that will push us towards a more renewable future, including H.3092, filed by Rep. Decker and Rep. Garballey.
Send an email to your legislator, asking them to support a 100% renewable Massachusetts! <[link removed]>
This bill will commit Massachusetts to 100% renewable electricity by 2035, and 100% renewable energy across all sectors (including heating and transportation) economy wide by 2045.
Here’s how to act:
- Attend the hearing at the State House on Tuesday, July 23rd at 1pm in room B-1 (wear your 350 Mass T-shirt!)
- Contact your legislator and ask them to attend the hearing and stand in support of Reps Decker and Garballey and / or submit written testimony to the committee. Send an email to your state legislators now! <[link removed]>
A 100% renewable Massachusetts is possible, and is a key part on the Road to the Green New Deal. We must take action now.
Onwards,
Alan Palm for 350 Mass
