Our work at Pro-Israel America remains more critical than ever, as evidenced this week. Iron Dome, a defensive missile system that helps Israel protect its citizens from terrorist attacks, has saved thousands of lives. A few anti-Israel members of Congress, led by Representatives Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Pramila Jayapal and Mark Pocan, forced House leadership to strip $1 billion for Israel’s Iron Dome defense system from the must-pass House government funding bill. We strongly condemned [[link removed]] this outrageous move from “the Blame Israel Caucus.” Pro-Israel members of Congress on both sides of the aisle stood up [[link removed]] for the U.S.-Israel relationship and spoke out against this dangerous, outrageous move. In a show of landslide bipartisan support, the House of Representatives ultimately passed [[link removed]] a separate $1 billion supplemental funding bill for Iron Dome by a vote of 420-9.
This is exactly why bipartisan support for the U.S.-Israel relationship is so important. And why Pro-Israel America’s work to help elect candidates who will advance and support our strategic alliance is critical – continuing to endorse [[link removed]] pro-Israel candidates and speak with supporters of Israel who are running for Congress, like Arizona state Representative Daniel Hernandez who we hosted last week in a virtual meet and greet.
Coming off the heels of our victory in helping pro-Israel candidate Shontel Brown defeat anti-Israel opponent Nina Turner, it’s wonderful to see that Pro-Israel America’s work is being recognized by members of Congress and making a significant impact on the Hill. In a new video [[link removed]] launched this month, Senator Gary Peters (D-MI) and Representatives Don Bacon (R-NE), Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-WA), Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ), Elaine Luria (D-VA), and Michael McCaul (R-TX) talk about the importance of our work to mobilize grassroots activists and donors to support the U.S.-Israel relationship.
I spent time in Israel this summer and can tell you personally that I felt safer because of Iron Dome. My time visiting the Jewish state inspired me to reflect on how a strong U.S.-Israel relationship has helped both of our countries to address both the difficulties of the past year and the challenges that lie ahead – you can read more about that in my latest blog post [[link removed]] .

These 11 candidates bring Pro-Israel America’s total list of 2022 Congressional endorsements [[link removed]] to 67, including 37 Democrats and 30 Republicans.

# [#]PIA STATEMENT ON H.R. 5323 : On September 23, the House of Representatives spoke clearly in passing the $1 billion supplemental funding bill by an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote of 420-9, clearly demonstrating that the United States Congress stands with Israel, America’s vital strategic ally, and will continue to ensure that Israel has the means to defend itself, by itself, in the face of terror attacks and other threats to the Jewish state. The vote also sent a strong message to the small, yet vocal, ‘Blame Israel Caucus’ that sought to deny vital funding for the Iron Dome defense system, a direct by-product of U.S.-Israeli cooperation, that has literally saved hundreds upon thousands of both Israeli and Palestinian lives during these attacks. The eight Democrats and one Republican who voted ‘no’ on this funding resolution put those lives at risk. Politically-motivated efforts to cut, condition or restrict security assistance to Israel are misguided and bad policy, designed to undercut the U.S.-Israel alliance and weaken Israel’s ability to defend itself.
