John,
According to a new ethics report, seven U.S. House lawmakers failed to disclose their stock trades as required by law.1 These laws were put in place to ensure that lawmakers aren’t profiting from insider information they gain through their jobs in Congress.
Five of the seven lawmakers sit on the powerful House Financial Services Committee – and one represents Ohio’s 8th district.
Unfortunately, this is all too common in Washington. Corporate-backed representatives use their positions in Congress to line their pockets. Senators Kelly Loeffler, Richard Burr, and others famously sold off millions in stocks just before a stock market crash using knowledge of the impending COVID-19 pandemic given to them at a closed Senate meeting.2
Senator Joe Manchin makes $500,000 a year from one of the dirtiest coal plants in West Virginia while blocking climate measures in Congress.3
It’s time for change in Washington. Morgan has spent her entire career fighting against this type of abuse of power that benefits the top at the expense of everyone else.
She’s a strong woman who didn’t grow up surrounded by millionaires. She has dedicated her life to figuring out how to broaden economic opportunity for all.
We need leaders like Morgan in Congress who will change the culture in Washington and represent the people of Ohio – not their own financial interests.
Morgan has a history of challenging the system – not upholding the status quo.
We know the status quo in Washington is deeply broken and it will take electing leaders like Morgan to finally turn the tide and build a Congress that is of, by, and for the people.
We don’t have corporate PACs bankrolling our campaign, just people like you chipping in what they can. If you’re able, please rush a donation before our deadline tomorrow at midnight.
Thank you for helping us get this far.
