This is terrifying! This just passed the House and Mike Thompson voted for it. There is already an International Criminal Court- a court that the US regularly ignores and fails to submit to. Now the federal government wants to prosecute war criminals here. And you can bet they won't go after George Bush or Dick Cheney or Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama. They will go after leaders they want to coup. They want to pretend they have the authority (and it WOULD be pretend) to fabricate war crimes like the fake gas attack in Douma, and then arrest and try foreign dignitaries in US courts using fabricated evidence with lawyers and judges who will believe what the government tells them and comply. Think about it. The Douma gas attack is thoroughly debunked and well documented. But the government and their media co-workers keep repeating the lie anyway, and gaslighting people as Assad supporters if they speak out against it. We also know that there are multiple world leaders who have the popular
support of the majority of their people, but the US sanctions their countries and calls those leaders "dictator" anyway. Not only do they want to be able to arrest leaders like Assad and throw them in jail, but this will serve as a justification for invasions. They will say things like they"are only pursuing the rule of law" and "If he's not guilty then he's got nothing to fear" all while conducting bombing or invasions ostensibly to arrest leaders they want out. This could be done to Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Cuba, Syria, Ethiopia, Eritrea, any African country that does business with China, Bolivia, Peru, Belarus. You get the picture. This is Kafka meets Orwell. Please call or write to your Senator and ask her/him to oppose this bill.
