My team and I have reached out to you quite a bit over the past few days for help with our end-of-quarter fundraising deadline. We’re still short of our goal, but I wanted to carve out some time to be frank with you about why deadlines like this matter so much.

Let’s face it: a strong campaign needs to be well-resourced. It takes money to keep up with my opponents, increase voter outreach and organizing efforts, and defend my campaign against attack ads.

But that’s not the only reason we have to take fundraising deadlines seriously.

Your support makes it possible for me to show up every day in Congress, and keep fighting for the people of Southern Nevada. Here are some of the things I’m proud to have been able to address, thanks to your support:

>>Child Care. Nevada is a child care desert and 72 percent of Nevadans don’t have access to quality, affordable childcare. That’s why I introduced The Small Business Child Care Investment Act, which gives nonprofit child care providers the funds they need to meet the needs of Nevadan families.

>>Reproductive Rights. Protecting reproductive freedom is a top priority for me. I joined over 230 of my colleagues in urging the Supreme Court to uphold Roe v. Wade and I cosponsored the Women’s Health Protection Act to safeguard a woman’s right to make her own decisions about her health.

>>Health Care. No one should go hungry, ration, or sacrifice other needs in order to be able to afford their life-saving medications. My bill, the Seniors Securing Access to Vital and Essential (SAVE) Prescription Drugs Act, would help more low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities be able to afford their prescription drugs.

>>Climate Change. Taking action on the climate crisis is our only option -- because there is no Planet B. That’s why I’m fighting for legislation that will lay the groundwork for a sustainable, equitable future as well as the Great American Outdoors Act that will ensure the preservation of the public lands we all depend on.
