Additionally, our School System has announced their first inaugural Northville Athletic Hall of Fame inductees. We will look at some of these honorees along with teams and coaches that have represented “The Ville” with the greatest honor and respect in all their sports. Some quick COVID updates:
* Friday, September 24^th – Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the CDC, recommended Pfizer-BioNTech boosters for health care workers and others at risk. States and pharmacies are already giving out the boosters. Those 65 and older, nursing home residents, and individuals ages 50 to 64 who have underlying health problems are also eligible to receive their booster shot. (New York Times)
* Recent studies reinforce the idea that mask requirements in schools can help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Two CDC studies released Friday (9/24) found school outbreaks and pediatric cases were more common when schools didn't mandate masks. Study authors pointed out that other prevention strategies should be used in conjunction with mask mandates, but data suggests that masks are highly effective when it comes to stopping the spread of the disease in schools. (USA Today)
* President Biden called on rich nations and philanthropists to do more to end the pandemic, saying the United States will buy 500 million more doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to donate to countries around the world for delivery by next September. The White House said the goal is to vaccinate 70% of the world's population against COVID-19 by this time next year. (NPR)

COVID-19 CONFIRMED CASES: Northville has had 286 cases*/8 fatalities, Township 2548/53, Michigan 1.1M/22K, Nation 44M/701K, Global 232/4.8M. (CDC.com) *Wayne County data

Again, I would also like to thank all the Coaches, High School Athletic Staff and the Hall of Fame Directors for establishing this institution commemorating Northville’s exceptional student-athletes.
