Think Joe Biden is going to sail into another term? Think again, folks.
Donald Trump is “99 to 100 percent likely” to run for reelection in 2024, according to CNN Analysis. It would shock exactly nobody if Trump cleared the floor of other Republican candidates, just like he did in 2016. That could easily lead to another catastrophic, authoritarian Trump presidency. Remember, Trump simply refused to govern on three major disasters that Biden has since inherited:
+ First, the COVID-19 public health crisis. Trump's abject mistrust of the scientific community and unbelievably dangerous anti-vaccine rhetoric has cost hundreds of thousands of lives during the pandemic.
+ Second, a deep recession brought on by the pandemic. Trump not only failed to fix the pandemic economy, he made it worse by placing blind faith in his business-world cronies and their archaic, backward, and disproven conservative economics.
+ Third, the withdrawal from Afghanistan. Trump cut an absurd, tactless deal with the Taliban, and with his typical isolationist bombast he totally disregarded all precedent of cooperation with our regional allies-- including, unbelievably, the Afghan government-- who could have helped prevent the current humanitarian crisis.
Democrats are in trouble. The last thing hardworking Americans deserve is for Trump to blame his mistakes on his successor in a cynical attempt to retake the White House. But that's exactly what's about to happen.
See, egomaniac Trump has been busy promoting his “Big Lie” conspiracy over the last year because he knows these three disasters could be pinned to him and wreck his chances in 2024. With sycophants running for Congress on the idea that Democrats somehow rigged the election for Joe Biden, Trump is testing the waters. All he needs is a strong showing in 2022, and he'll officially launch his campaign knowing that his plants will, as election experts suggest, use their new power “to perpetuate Big Lie 2.0 on January 6, 2025.”
Look, the Republicans only need to flip five seats to dissolve our razor-thin House majority. Midterm elections typically follow a deeply disturbing trend: the party in power tends to lose seats. Remember, Republicans flipped a whopping 63 seats under Obama in 2010. The president's part has only gained seats in Congress during the midterms FOUR TIMES in American history.
There's no alternative. We can't just protect our majorities this time around, we must EXPAND them. The game is essentially tied right now, so we can't just play defense, we've got to go on OFFENSE.
When Democrats Turn Out will go on offense in 2022. That means:
+ Strong, early support for Raphael Warnock. (CNN just ranked Warnock's seat #2 MOST LIKELY TO FLIP.)
+ Electing Val Demmings to the Senate. Demmings will end Marco Rubio's disastrous Senate career-- Floridians and Americans will be unspeakably grateful.
+ Supporting all smart, progressive Congressional campaigns. We did it in 2018 and flipped 41 seats under Trump to win our historic House majority.
It would be careless not to think ahead on this. A strong showing in the 2022 midterms is absolutely fundamental to warding off Donald Trump and securing another Biden term in 2024.
But too many Democrats wiped their hands clean of politics after Joe Biden was inaugurated. They don't remember how crushed we felt when we watched Donald Trump soar above Hillary Clinton in 2016. They think that ousting Trump one time last year was good enough.
Truth is, they're just not paying attention. Some of the biggest names in media like Joe Rogan are already predicting that “Trump is probably gonna win.” And a new Rasmussen poll says “48% of Americans want Trump to run in 2024, most say he'll win.”
Trump hasn't gone ANYWHERE. If we rely on these kinds of Democrats then we'll be in trouble.
