John,

SEEC members of Congress and Democrats made significant progress during the House Energy and Commerce budget markup recently.

Among the accomplishments spearheaded by SEEC members of Congress were:

*
Establishing
a
uniform
clean
energy
standard
*
Providing
incentives
for
electric
companies
to
invest
in
renewable
energy
sources
*
Moving
utility
companies
rapidly
toward
renewable
energy
*
Significant
funding
for
electric
vehicles
*
Dramatically
increasing
the
number
of
electric
charging
stations
across
the
country
*
Prioritizing
electric
vehicle
“friendly”
infrastructure
*
Significant
investments
in
clean
drinking
water

They also defeated multiple Republican anti-environment amendments, which increased support to the Big Energy, Big Coal, and Big Oil sectors.

SEEC member Congressman Paul Tonko, who is Chair of the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Environment and Climate Change, was instrumental in having significant investment in clean energy automobiles and creating a greenhouse gas reduction fund included in the markup.

Democratic members defeated Republican amendments opposing climate justice and preventing investments in clean energy technology.

John, SEEC members of Congress are taking the lead on moving President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda through Congress. They’re ensuring climate change solutions are front-and-center of all budgetary debates and decision-making.
