Children should never be made to feel bad about their bodies. That's why the OAC is doing the work to not only eradicate childhood obesity bullying but to provide the resources needed for families to navigate difficult conversations about weight and health and empower them as they teach their children to be proud of who they are.
As we near the end of Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, the OAC wants more people to recognize that ending childhood obesity bullying is a mission that cannot wait. Each day we don't act, more children are experiencing unfair and damaging treatment that has the potential to affect them for a lifetime. Throughout this campaign, members of our Community have shared with us their own experiences with bullying, and how this treatment continues to impact their thoughts decades later. The time to end this painful experience is now.
