The recall in California was a retaliation tactic from the right to subvert the progress we made nationwide in last year's election... and it
obviously didn't work.
Let's be clear: This recall wasn’t about the needs of Californians, it was about white supremacy. It was about white supremacists' sick greed and need for power, and their willingness to do anything to get it.
Now is not the time to get comfortable. Conservative extremists are already strategizing on how they can take back the House and the Senate in 2022. To prevent that from happening, we're going to have to band together to back candidates whose ideals align with freedom and liberation for all Black people.
These are the types of people that will stop at nothing to reverse the progress we've made, and that's why it's up to us to keep up the hard work and bring the type of energy we had in the general election to the midterm elections.
John, let's live up to our values and go bigger than we have in the past so Black people can thrive, not merely survive. By becoming a recurring donor or making a one-time donation today, we can come back even larger and stronger for the midterms.
If we're going to establish a country that values the lives of Black people, we have to work to elect candidates with strong progressive values who are dedicated to fighting for Black liberation -- whether that be on the local, state, or national level.
But to do that, we have to ensure we've got the funds to do things like host voter registration events, recruit volunteers for door-knocking, reach out to as many voters as possible through phone banks, and so much more.
We made history in the 2020 election, and we're going to do it again -- but this time, we need to go even bigger, better, and stronger.
Abortion care, public safety reform, health care, education -- it's all on the line. We need to back as many candidates as possible that are dedicated to racial justice on all of these issues and are ready to fight for total Black liberation on all fronts.
