Dear Emgage advocates,
We have an important legislative update on the crisis in Burma and the Rohingya.
Representative Gregory Meeks (D-NY-5) and Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) are planning to reintroduce the "Burma Unified through Rigorous Military Accountability Act.”
We welcome the reintroduction of this crucial legislation and its added measures towards military sanctioning, accountability, and humanitarian assistance. Show your support today for Dilawar Syed, nominee for the Small Business Administration.
Join us in our continued support for President Biden's nomination for Deputy Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA), Dilawar Syed. This historic nomination continues to be wrongfully blocked by Senate Republicans. Dilawar Syed's confirmation by the U.S. Senate would make him the highest-ranking Muslim American in the Biden Administration. However, his nomination to be the Deputy Administrator of the Small Business Administration has been unjustly blocked three times by several senators. Internal memos and statements by these senators make implicit references to Dilawar Syed's Islamic faith and Pakistani heritage.
This boycott is hurting small businesses that need the SBA at its full leadership.
Our Constitution explicitly states that “no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.” The Religious Test Clause protects all Americans who aspire to serve in government from religious discrimination.
We need you! Take action and show your support for his nomination by clicking our link below. In solidarity,
Wa'el Alzayat, CEO of Emgage Action
