Because of the actions of progressives across the country and in Congress, the White House extended the moratorium on evictions — providing a much needed lifeline for millions of Americans.

But on August 26, the right-wing Supreme Court, rigged by Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell, blocked President Biden from extending a moratorium on evictions during COVID-19.

The federal eviction moratorium was a lifeline for millions of families, the last remaining federal protection keeping many safely and stably housed during the pandemic. Now, 11 million Americans are again at risk of eviction in a deadly pandemic, as the surging Delta variant overwhelms hospitals. State and local governments are struggling to deliver rental aid.

Massive evictions affect us all, as they will help spread COVID-19, forcing Americans to move into closer quarters or congregate settings. And a new wave of evictions will disproportionately harm communities of color.

Congress must immediately take every possible action to protect renters. Tell Congress today: Please act urgently to keep Americans in their homes.
