While the public gets wall-to-wall coverage on impeachment, the Wall Street Journal just issued a report that a federal appeals court decision could quietly strike down the Affordable Care Act as early as next week.

Since Republicans have zero contingency plan in place, some states are now scrambling to pass legislation to protect the over 20 million Americans -- including those with pre-existing conditions -- who will be left uninsured if the ACA is struck down.

John, Republicans have been trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act for years, but this lawsuit has got to be their most reckless attempt yet. This quote from Republican Senator Kevin Cramer (ND) regarding the lawsuit sums up the Republican’ attitude on the ACA perfectly:

“Do I hope the lawsuit succeeds? I do… What I wish is, we had some idea where we are going if it does succeed, as it looks more and more like it might.”

Attacking the ACA is one thing, but openly admitting there’s no plan to replace the Affordable Care Act is completely irresponsible.

Lives are at stake, and this court decision is as strong a signal as any that we must do everything possible to stop the GOP from giving our healthcare back to the insurance companies with no restrictions.

That’s a fight I plan to lead on in Congress, and I’m thankful to have you by my side.
