We're only two days away from the FEC end-of-quarter deadline, but we still have more than 40% of the way to go — or $21,500, if we want to be precise.
It's not going to be easy to raise $21,500 in two days' time. But John, if we want to post our strongest public fundraising report to the FEC and fully invest in our plans to keep Jamaal in Congress — all while we face an uncertain future with redistricting — we need to put all hands on deck and reach this goal. Will you please chip in $3 or whatever you're able today to our campaign?
The stakes for end-of-quarter fundraising are much higher than other fundraising deadlines, because the results are public-facing. That means everyone — from political media to Jamaal's opponents — will be closely watching for our filing to determine how strong our campaign and Jamaal's candidacy is going into 2022.
Because of that, many political candidates tend to take money from whoever's cutting the biggest checks — especially last-minute.
But Jamaal refuses to take campaign contributions from dark money sources, no matter when. That means zero dollars from corporate PACs, lobbyists, or Wall Street. Whatever we end up raising in any given quarter is largely dependent on the generosity of our small-dollar donors.
You're probably thinking, "that probably makes Jesse's job as Jamaal's Finance Director more difficult." You'd be right! But I know — and Jamaal knows — that it's absolutely the right thing to do. That is why I have to ask one more time:
