Today is one of the most important days of the year (at least to us)! It is a day the entire country gets together to celebrate being a voter. Today is National Voter Registration Day (NVRD)🎉Celebrate with us by getting #VoteReady.
Did you know that the Alliance co-founded NVRD back in 2012? This holiday was built by young people, for all people in an effort to bring more voices into our democracy. And this year, NVRD is even more special because it is kicking off the first-ever season of Civic Holidays - nonpartisan days of action that strengthen and celebrate our country’s democracy. Because getting #VoteReady doesn’t end after you register to vote, it includes learning what’s on your ballot and making a plan to vote.
This NVRD, we are celebrating by co-leading Campus Takeover with the SLSV Coalition for the fourth year in a row and uplifting the amazing youth organizers in the Alliance Network who are getting their communities vote ready in the field and online today.

Campus Takeover |
Campus Takeover is a nationwide effort to mobilize students around elections and to create a culture of civic engagement on college campuses by facilitating celebratory events during the Civic Holidays. This year, Campus Takeover is being celebrated at over 600 colleges and universities across the country! The Alliance for Youth Organizing also distributed over $55,000 to 140 organizations and campuses to resource Campus Takeover events. The Campus Takeover celebrations do not end after today! For the first year ever, we are expanding this program to all of the Civic Holidays. Stay tuned for more resources on National Voter Education Week and Vote Early Day soon!

NVRD Celebrations in the Alliance Network |
While Alliance Network organizations register voters all day, every day, NVRD is a day when they get to celebrate their passion for voter registration with their communities and host innovative events. Here are just a few examples of what Alliance organizations have planned for today!
MOVE Texas |
MOVE Texas is on a mission to reclaim their title as the largest voter registration drive in the state. They are running 65 voter registration events across the state and capping off the day with a multicast Livestream.
Mississippi Votes |
Mississippi Votes will be making stops at college campuses all across the state to register young voters and get them vote ready.
Forward Montana |
Forward Montana will be on college campuses from Bozeman to Missoula giving out free drinks, snacks, games and will be hosting a Voting Rights Jeopardy night.

How You Can Get #VoteReady |
The most important thing you can do today is to get vote ready. This means making sure your voter registration is up-to-date. Then, make sure your friends, family, and neighbors are all vote ready. The power to make lasting change in your community starts with getting registered to vote.
National Voter Registration Day isn’t just a nationwide celebration of our democracy, it’s also a reminder that we as voters have a say in the issues that matter to us and the leaders that represent us. Our democracy truly works better when more people participate in it.
