My name is Alexandra Hunt. I’m a public health researcher, grassroots organizer, and soccer coach living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I’ve waited tables, volunteered as an emergency medical technician, and am a longtime global healthcare advocate.
Now, I'm running for Congress in the most Democratic district in the country because Pennsylvanians need a progressive fighter in office.

When COVID-19 hit Philly last year, it hit hard. About 21% of the city’s workforce — more than 150,000 Philly workers — filed for unemployment. Black and brown residents lost their jobs and income at twice the rate of white residents. And when working families were pleading for help from the federal government, they were given crumbs.
Sadly, Philly is no stranger to struggle. Even before the pandemic, the city had almost a 25% poverty rate and one of the highest unemployment rates in the country.
The working people of Philly have been suffering for a long time and our current representative in Congress isn’t doing enough.
The incumbent, Dwight Evans, has been steeped in corrupt Philly politics for four decades.
In that time, he’s worked to defund our entire public school system, funneling the money to private alternatives.
He’s turned his back on campaign promises like supporting universal health care and raising the minimum wage.
And he’s taking thousands of dollars from corporations like Amazon, Google, Morgan Stanley, Lockhead Martin, Microsoft, Raytheon and every big pharma and health insurance company you can think of.
Our district is the most Democratic district in the country. We should be leading the fight for progressive change, not cowering from it.
That’s why I’m running for Congress. I believe that the only way we can achieve justice and freedom in our country is with bold, transformative legislation.
We can pass Medicare for All and guarantee healthcare as a human right. We can fully invest in our public school system so that all children have access to a quality education and teachers are paid enough so they don’t have to work a second job. We can get rid of money and corruption in all of our political systems.
But we can only do it together. Join our fight to put Philly families first in Congress.
