John -- I am excited to introduce another powerful addition to the Brand New Congress slate for 2022. Meet Odessa Kelly!
I want to tell you more about Odessa’s incredible life and advocacy, but first, can you split a contribution between BNC and Odessa right now? Growing up, Odessa’s East Side Nashville community suffered from political neglect and policy failure, leading to generational struggles with poverty, substance abuse, and gun violence. Odessa followed her father’s footsteps and became a civil servant in Nashville’s Parks and Recreation department, where she led the Napier Community Center for more than a decade. Today she serves as Executive Director of Stand Up Nashville, a nonprofit she also co-founded in 2016 to fight for racial and economic justice. As a working class, gay Black woman and mother of two, Odessa has seen firsthand the ways in which the system fails working families and marginalized people -- and she’s been on the front lines of the fight to change that. When city officials gave the richest man in Nashville $275 million to build a soccer stadium, Odessa fought to ensure 20% of all housing built at the development site would be affordable and that stadium employees would be paid $15.50 an hour with child-care provided. From racial profiling to storm recovery to COVID19, Odessa has been organizing to lift up Nashville’s Black communities for decades. Will you split a contribution between BNC and Odessa’s historic campaign to represent TN-05? If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Let’s get Odessa elected!
