Did you see Donald Trump declare victory after Rep. Anthony Gonzalez -- one of the 10 Republicans who voted to impeach him -- announced he won't run for re-election? It made me sick to my stomach; not because "the former guy" claims to be a winner (he's certainly not), but because SO many Republican leaders cower in silence. What happened to the Grand Old Party of Lincoln? What happened to our country having two healthy, sane political parties? The current situation has become so dangerous, and none of us can afford to bury our heads in the sand and just hope he goes away!  I, for one, have refused to be silent, and I'll call him exactly what he is -- an utter failure of a human and president.

Donald Trump has vowed to cancel Liz Cheney and me for daring to stand up for the truth and serve on the 1/6 Committee -- especially now that we've issued subpoenas to his inner circle.  And that now makes us the top targets of the Trump Cult's wrath.

But I am not afraid.  I knew when I joined the committee that it could mean the end of my career -- and if it is, I'll be proud to have made that sacrifice for my country.  But what we must do is ensure that a tyrant like Donald Trump and the bullies who enable him can't ever win again.  And that means standing with those who had the courage that is all too rare in these troubling times.

Liz and I need your support right now, at this critical deadline.  Thursday is the end of the third quarter of fundraising, and the numbers must be so strong that there is zero doubt that the good people of this country will prevail over Trumpism.

I hate sending emails like this, but with a mission and like ours, funds are needed to keep the momentum going.  We are so close to reaching our audacious fundraising goal.  I know you've been supportive of our mission, and now I'm going to make an absolutely outrageous request:

Every contribution, no matter how big or small, adds up to making a real difference.  The funds donated to Liz Cheney and me aren't just going to toward re-election -- they will also go toward challenging those in Congress who put Q Anon, Lies, Conspiracies, and the Trump Family before our Country.  The money also helps build our community, marshal an army of thousands of volunteers, create space for reasonable people of goodwill to solve our greatest problems, and provide a fresh, optimistic vision for our country.

I do not take for granted the trust you've placed in me to usher our movement through this storm, and I'm humbled by your continued support.  Donating is an investment in our democracy and a down payment for a better, brighter America for our kids and grandkids.  I have faith the good we do today will be compounded over time, and I'm excited by what we can do together.
