John,
History has been made in New York.
The climate crisis was at the center of the opening of the United Nations, with President Biden and the UN Secretary-General emphasizing the need for urgent action by the world community.
President Biden urged countries to work together on borderless challenges like climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic in his address.
The president also announced he would work with Congress to double the funding the United States has pledged to help developing countries combat climate change.
Additionally, President Biden said countries must “bring their highest possible ambitions to the table” during the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties in Scotland later this year.
John, we must support President Biden, international leaders, SEEC members, and environmental activists fighting for climate change on the world stage. Will you pitch in a donation right now?
SEEC members of Congress are critical to the success of the climate change action proposed by the president. The Biden Administration can’t do it without Congressional action, whether it’s cutting emissions, passing funding for new initiatives, or uniting nations around this global threat.
President Biden and SEEC members of Congress know this work will extend beyond elections in 2022 when Republicans could retake the House, and even beyond Biden’s term in the White House.
But, as he and others have said, the time to take action is now. The next decade will determine if America and the international community can rise to the challenge of combating climate change and halt the trajectory of destruction.
Thanks to your help in 2020, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 117th Congress while we undo the damage of the Trump Administration. But if you'd like to receive fewer emails, we understand. You can click here to only get our most important messages, or you can unsubscribe.
