We’re making calls all week long.

Indivisibles,

Wow, what a week it’s shaping up to be on the Hill. Over the weekend, Speaker Pelosi said she wants to pass three bills this week: government funding, the bipartisan infrastructure bill (BIF), and reconciliation (recovery). As you know, it’s critically important that the House passes reconciliation alongside the BIF in order to ensure the House passes a bill comprehensive enough to meet this moment. With your help, we’ve been supporting the CPC's demands for a big, inclusive recovery package -- one that guarantees the investments that our communities desperately need.

Today, Reps. Jayapal, Omar, and Porter, wrote an op-ed reaffirming their commitment to withholding their votes to deliver on both recovery and infrastructure -- click here to read the op-ed. Conservative Democrats have been working hard to water down the package, and “corporate lobbyists, Big Pharma, and Wall Street executives have declared all-out war,” but progressives have remained strong, thanks to Indivisibles like you making calls all month long. And leaders report that the progressive bloc has grown to 60 votes (click here to read the article) as members from other caucuses have decided to join forces in blocking the infrastructure bill.

In short, our pressure is working. That’s why we’re going to keep making calls all week long until both bills -- the entire package -- is passed in the House. Click here to call your representative now. And now, your weekly to-dos:

 Your weekly to-dos

  1. Make calls on an inclusive recovery package before it’s too late. Speaker Pelosi just announced that she wants to pass both an inclusive recovery bill and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill (BIF) this week. This means we’re in a key moment for advocacy as we fight to win the most progressive reconciliation bill possible. With just a few days left until the House vote, it is urgent that you call your Representative and tell them how important it is that we pass an inclusive recovery bill that works for everyone. Once you’ve called your representative, click here to call your senators and demand they pass the bill immediately after the House sends it over.
  2. Call your senators and demand they move quickly on the Freedom to Vote Act. Senate Democrats have released a new version of their democracy reform bill called the Freedom to Vote Act. The Freedom to Vote Act builds on the For the People Act and brings us closer to passing transformational democracy reform this Congress. Call your senators and let them know you want them to adjust the filibuster now to pass the Freedom to Vote Act.
  3. Call your senators and tell them to protect Roe V. Wade now. The House on Friday passed the Women's Health Protection Act, a bill aimed at preserving access to an abortion nationwide, as Republican-led state legislatures pass countless bills across the country threatening abortion rights. The bill now has to pass a vote in the Senate, which is why it is urgent that you call your senator and demand they protect reproductive rights.

P.S. We rely on your support to keep call pages up and running, fund ads to get the word out, and continue all the work we’re doing this year. If you’re able, click here to donate to help fund our work.

 IndivisiWin of the Week

Last week, Clackamas Indivisibles rallied at Representative Schrader’s Oregon City Office, decrying Rep. Schrader’s vote against the drug pricing plan included in the inclusive recovery bill.

This week is going to be a doozy, so be sure to keep up to date on all our priorities as they move through Congress by following us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Thanks for being in this movement with us.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
