THE WEEK IN BRIEF
On Thursday, the House of Representatives passed legislation to provide $1 billion for the replenishment of Israel's Iron Dome system after their recent conflict with Hamas. The bill passed with overwhelming majority with Speaker Pelosi emphasizing the importance that Israel's security boosts U.S. security.

Also on Thursday, Russian state media reported that Russia's Navy engaged in test fires towards targets off the coast of Crimea. The tests come during Ukraine's military exercise with NATO that are set to take place until October 1st.

On Sunday, it was announced that Turkish President Erdogan is considering buying more Russian S-400 defense systems, despite heavy sanctions already imposed by the Trump administration in December 2020. The U.S. claims that the S-400 system threatens the F-35 fighter jets that are utilized by many NATO allies.
