John,
We have lots of updates, and we’re going to try to break it all down as quickly as possible. Here goes:
You’ve probably heard a lot about the House’s Monday deadline to vote on the infrastructure bill — yeah, today . Otherwise known as the “Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal,” it does cover a lot of funding for roads and bridges but not a lot of money for other important projects like helping communities most impacted by overlapping climate and economic crises. (Shoutout to corporate Democrats and their Big Oil friends for making it happen. 🙄)
Well, that vote is now happening on Thursday. That’s because progressives and activists like us demanded that a transformative bill called the Build Back Better Act should get a vote at the same time — not either/or. It would bring to reality the first pieces of the Green New Deal we’ve organized so damn hard for over the last five years!
The schedule change gives us more time to organize, which is a good thing. All week, we’ll be camping out on the steps of the U.S. Capitol with People’s Watch to demand that Congress holds the line on investments in our communities.
So can you join us? WE NEED YOU! Wear white clothing and come on over to the Capitol to show how much momentum and support there is for a historic spending bill that invests in our futures. Click here to follow People’s Watch for real-time updates! >> [[link removed]]
We really, really hope you can join us,
Audrey
