On Wednesday, I introduced the No Militarization of Space Act, a bill designed to abolish the ill-conceived, wasteful, and wholly unnecessary Space Force.

You might remember when this ridiculous program was created by Donald Trump, who wanted to militarize outer space rather than maintaining it as a place for science and peaceful exploration.

This new war making bureaucracy is wasting billions of taxpayer dollars—money that should be directed toward dealing with COVID-19, climate change, and income inequality.

Please join me in calling for the immediate end to the Space Force. We can’t allow this terrible Trump idea - - intended to spur a new Cold War in space - - to continue.

Earlier in the week, Space Force unveiled its new uniform, which immediately inspired ridicule on social media for its similarity to “Star Trek” and “Battlestar Galactica.”

But while it might be fun to laugh at the sci-fi absurdity of it all, the reality is that we’re throwing away billions of dollars that could and should be used to help struggling people in America, protect our fragile environment, and address a still-raging COVID pandemic.

There are plenty of war hawks out there who like the idea of Space Force, and once you create a military bureaucracy it's hard to unwind it, no matter how wrongheaded it is. That’s why I need you to speak up now and demand that it be abolished now.
