Hours ago, the PennEast Pipeline Company announced it would no longer move forward with this dangerous and unnecessary project. WE WON!!!

Back when PennEast was proposed seven years ago, no one thought the pipeline could be blocked. But the communities in the pipeline’s path rallied, and never stopped making their voices heard. The more they organized, the larger the opposition grew. Homeowner by homeowner, township by township, and organization by organization, momentum continued to build and made it possible for Governor Murphy’s administration in New Jersey to deny permits to the project and take their case all the way to the Supreme Court.

Today’s news shows the power in organizing, working together, and never giving up. Seven years is a long time to keep fighting. But when it’s your kids’ school, your home, or your town on the line, giving up isn’t an option.

We must draw inspiration from the fight to stop PennEast as we work to tackle the climate crisis and get Pennsylvania to join a carbon reduction program like the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative. Protecting future generations from deadly heat waves, flooding, and storms is still possible if we keep raising our voices, putting the communities that will be most impacted front and center, and working together.
