Hi John, we hope you’re enjoying the first few days of fall!

The end of the fundraising quarter is quickly approaching, so our team has been working around the clock to ensure that Jared puts forward the strongest finance report possible (if you want to help us reach our quarterly fundraising goal, you can chip in here: [link removed])

Jared’s top priority in Congress is delivering results for the people of Maine’s Second District. So today, we wanted to take a break from the fundraising asks to give you an update on just some of what Jared has been up to since our last newsletter.

PROTECTING SHIPBUILDERS’ JOBS AT BATH IRON WORKS:
Bath Iron Works employs over 6,800 Mainers from all over the state. This month, Jared successfully secured a provision in the FY2022 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that would authorize the Navy to enter a new multi-year contract for up to 15 DDG-51 destroyers built at BIW, a significant win for the shipbuilding workforce in our state.

Portland Press Herald: 'Golden: New contract could bring business, stability to Bath shipyard'

COMBATING THE OPIOID CRISIS:
The opioid crisis has devastated families and communities across Maine. Earlier this year, Jared and a bipartisan group of Maine lawmakers sent a letter to the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) making the case for increased funding to help Mainers struggling with substance use disorders. This month, Healthy Acadia and Aroostook Mental Health Center both received $1 million to help provide Mainers with the services they need to combat this public health emergency.

Bangor Daily News: 'Maine organizations awarded $2 million in grants to prevent opioid addiction and overdose'

SUPPORTING FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN WORKERS:
Since the start of the pandemic, food processors here in Maine have had to invest significant time and resources to protect their workers and provide food to our nation during an unprecedented time. Earlier this year, Jared and a bipartisan group of Maine lawmakers sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) urging them to release funding to support agricultural stakeholders. This month, the USDA announced that they will soon publish two new grant programs to help the food supply chain weather the pandemic.

Thank you so much for being on our team -- we know that none of this would have been possible without your continued support.

Sincerely,

Team Golden

P.S. The GOP establishment has listed Jared as a top target for 2022, and dark-money groups have already spent over $1 million to attack Jared’s record. We can’t let them undo all the progress he’s made, so if you can, will you chip in $5 or more before our FEC deadline at the end of the month to help Jared continue this important work on behalf of ME-02 in Congress?
