New York is everything to me. It’s where I built a life with my partner Meg, where Marek and Rosa became the amazing adults they are, where I cut my teeth as an organizer fighting for affordable housing in our neighborhood, and where I’ve had the great honor of serving in the City Council.
It’s where we have built community together by fighting to make our city and our country live up to our values.
I’m going to be honest with you, I’m nervous about our reporting deadline tonight. We have ambitious plans for NYC: to fight for public solar and good, green jobs, to confront inequality in our economy, to win affordable, stable housing for our neighbors. All of this work will take building a strong base of New Yorkers, united around our shared vision, fighting to transform our city.
That’s why this deadline matters -- because what we raise tonight will determine how many people we can organize in the weeks and months to come.
