Friend,

The drug war has led to cruel policies that punish immigrants, defining anything related to drugs as a crime with severe individual and familial consequences. As a result, the U.S. has created the largest immigrant exclusion, detention, and deportation structure in the world.

Learn more by joining us this Wednesday for our Uprooting the Drug War Discussion Series: Immigration, the Drug War, and the Deportation Machine.

UDWImmigrationWebinar

We’re excited to be co-hosting this webinar with Immigrant Legal Resource Center and Immigrant Defense Project. It will bring together advocates, researchers, and directly impacted people to explore the ways in which the drug war has infiltrated the immigration system and to generate solutions for reform.

Irrational and racist logic rooted in the drug war falsely associates Latinx and Black immigrants with drug use and drug activity. Drug use is often the reason for removing immigrants or denying them access to services.

These cruel policies have fueled mass detention and deportation, tear families apart, and often send people back to countries where they have no support.

Instead of helping people in need, our drug policies are being used as a weapon to discriminate against, deport, and punish immigrants. It’s time to change that.

Please register for our conversation this Wednesday about how the drug war impacts immigration and visit our site to learn more about this critical issue.

Sincerely,

Kassandra Frederique
