For starters, I’m Lucas Kunce. I’m a 13-year Marine veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and I’m running for U.S. Senate in Missouri.

VoteVets not only endorsed my Senate campaign, they also had my back when I spoke out publicly in support of President Biden’s decision to withdraw troops from Afghanistan. That position didn’t make a lot of the elites in Washington very happy, and I took a lot of heat for it. But VoteVets defended me and amplified my message on social media. Their support made a big difference.

VoteVets has put countless dollars and work hours behind the campaigns of veterans like me running for Congress because we represent a unique and too often overlooked perspective.

As long as Congress is making decisions that affect the lives of troops, veterans and military families — it is important that we actually have members of our military community represented in Congress.
