John,
Welcome to Utah Climate Week! It might not be everyone’s favorite week of the year, but it’s definitely top three for us here at o2 Utah. It is a dedicated week for the environmental community to come together, share their successes, and find ways to work together to effectively address climate change.
When it comes to the climate, here’s what we know:
-
Climate change is real and affecting our lives today (wildfires, flooding, drought, just to name a few).
-
We know we need bold policy ideas to bring about the systemic change necessary to avoid the most harmful impacts of climate change.
-
We know talking about climate change can be difficult to bring up in conversations with family members, friends, co-workers, and especially elected officials.
-
Connecting the dots between the extreme weather events, poor air quality, enacting bold policy, and using the leverage point of elections to bring about that bold policy is why o2 Utah exists.
This last point is where you come in. Can we count on you chipping in $5, $20, $45, $100 or whatever you can afford today to help us connect those dots?
Our team is working tirelessly to ensure you know the facts behind what contributes to our bad air and the lasting effects it has on our community. That means addressing the root cause of the suffocating smoke plaguing us all summer - climate change. That means pointing out the cause of a drying Great Salt Lake and its impacts on our air - climate change. And it means holding politicians accountable for their inaction on climate change.
We’ve seen some major successes with our work at the municipal level this year. Our 20 endorsed candidates in 10 cities are changing the narrative around climate in Utah. We need you to help in those efforts, too. Please make a contribution today.
Best,
o2 Utah
